Outpatient Detox - Before you start . Advanced Pain Treatment

Assuring your success through preparation .

Intake Interview

  • A confidential interview is conducted by our treatment coordinator. The Advanced Pain Treatment Outpatient Buprenorphine process is described. Program requirements, treatment options and fee are discussed. A preliminary assessment is conducted where the patient will be evaluated to determine if they are appropriate  for an out patient program . If the client wishes to participate in the Advanced Pain Treatment program, he or she is then scheduled for an appointment with the physician for further evaluation.
  • As a result of our evaluation and planning we may either; elect to conduct a shorter buprenorphine detoxification (5-7 days) or choose to stabilize the patient and maintain them on the buprenorphine for an extended period. These decisions are made on an individual basis. If it is determined that the best course is to maintain the patient for an extended period on the Buprenorphine ( suboxone), we hope to start them in chemical dependency treatment or if they are pain patients, to taper them  while we assess their level of pain.
  • If the client does not meet the inclusion criteria, he or she will be offered other treatment options.

Bio-psychosocial Assessment

  • A full assessment is conducted by a certified addiction counselor. A rehabilitation program is chosen during this interview. Factors that affect the type of program chosen are length and amount of drug use, existence of a support system, medical condition, employment requirements, and previous treatment attempts.

Pre-Procedure Medical Evaluation

  • All Advanced Pain Treatment patients receive a complete medical history and physical examination by a physician who specializes in addiction medicine prior to the detoxification process. This includes a laboratory analysis and urine toxicology screen. Our doctors remain an integral part of the multidisciplinary team that cares for the patient throughout detoxification and rehabilitation.
  • A Buprenorphine detoxification commitment to participate in an on-going rehabilitation program is a mandatory part of the process.
